This Tech Tip demonstrates how to record IntraMail override mailbox greetings from both inside and outside the office on a DSX running version 3.0 and up.

This Tech Tip requires access to the phone system using NEC DSX System Administrator Software. - DSX System software version 3.0 and up
- DSX IntraMail & IntraMail Pro Voice Prompts version 2.20 and up
- DSX System Administrator 3.15 and up
Example Overview
Your company is closing for a holiday and you want to setup a holiday override greeting from within your office before you leave, or you need to close due to an emergency, such as inclement weather, and you need to create an auto attendant greeting from outside your office to tell customers and employees. (This application assumes you have an auto attendant schedule setup)
Instructions
Setup a holiday/emergency override greeting from INSIDE your office via a station phone set
Record your holiday/emergency override greeting:
- NEC’s default gives station 301 system administrator capabilities (other stations can be set with system administrator capabilities)
- go to station 301
- lift handset
- press the V-MAIL key
- enter optional password
- dial 72 (system admin options)
- dial 4 (instruction messages)
- you will hear “please enter the mailbox number” [example 803]
- press 5 to listen to the current message
- press 7 to record the new holiday/emergency greeting
- follow recording instructions
- when done, hang up or press SPEAKER to exit
Assigning the Answering Schedule Override routing mailbox: (skip this step if you already have an override mailbox defined)
- NEC’s default gives station 301 system administrator capabilities (other stations can be set with system administrator capabilities)
- go to station 301
- lift handset or press SPEAKER
- press the V-MAIL key
- enter optional password
- dial 72 (system admin options)
- dial 6 (answer schedule override)
- you will hear “please enter the schedule number” [example 1]
- you will hear “answering schedule is off, the override mail box is undefined to turn answering schedule on press 6, to change the override mailbox press 2, to return to the previous menu press the pound key ready”
- press 2 will hear “please enter the override mailbox number” [example 803]
- hang up or press SPEAKER to exit
Turning on the Answering Schedule Override:

- press 6 will hear “answering schedule is on, the override mail box is [example 803], to turn answering schedule off press 6, to change the override mailbox press 2, to return to the previous menu press the pound key ready”
- your holiday/emergency are now on. NOTE it will stay on until you repeat this step and turn it off when you return to your office
- hang up or press SPEAKER to exit

Record your holiday/emergency override greeting:

- call your office wait for your auto attendant greeting to start playing
- press the pound sign (#) the enter 301 [example #301]
- enter optional password
- dial 72 (system admin options)
- dial 4 (instruction messages)
- you will hear “please enter the mailbox number” [example 803]
- press 5 to listen to the current message
- press 7 to record the new holiday/emergency greeting

Optional: (You can preset your override mailbox in advance and turn it on and off from the DSX PC System Administrator)
Assigning the Answering Schedule Override routing mailbox:
- set DSX IntraMail Config [4211] Mailbox Override > Schedule # [example 1] > Override [x] and Mailbox to [example 803] (routing mailbox)
- Putting a check mark in the Override box turns it on, so when you’re done putting in [example 803] you should uncheck the override. Once unchecked it turns the override off, however leaves [example 803] there for when you turn it on via a phone
