This Tech Tip demonstrates how to install, troubleshoot, and re-register the NEC DECT Cordless Phone.
1. The NEC DECT Cordless uses a single digital port on the phone system.
2. Plug a single-pair wire from a digital station port into the “Line In” input on the base unit of the cordless phone.
3. Plug in the AC Adapter to the base of the cordless phone and wait until it powers on.
Resolving an Error Message
1. Confirm you have a working station (extension) port by plugging in a MLT (Multi-Line Telephone) to the single pair wire you have running back to the 66 block and PBX.
2. Once you have confirmed that your port is operating correctly, you may need to re-register the DECT handset to its base if the LCD screen is still displaying “Not Registered”.
Re-Registering the DECT Handset to its Base
2. Once you confirm that your port is operating correctly, you may need to re-register the DECT handset to its base if the LCD Screen is still displaying “Not Registered”.
1. Press the Menu/Mute Key.
2. Use the Up/Down Volume Key to select “Register”, and then press Menu/Mute.
3. On Base Unit press and hold the “Cordless” button until the LED blinks.
4. The Handset will ask for the Base PIN. Enter 1234 on the dial pad. Also make sure that the cord going to the Base is connected to the Line In jack and not out.
If the phone does not work, the digital extension is not making it to the end of the cord, and this will cause the phone to not register.
